About the publisher

The department houses different research projects in the areas of archaeology, classical archaeology, global archaeology and egyptology.

Archaeology works with prehistoric and historic material focussing on theory and the history of the discipline of archaeology as well as cultural historical perspectives. Several projects deal with the interaction between material culture and oral and written sources, and how our concept of prehistory changes over time.

Within Classical Archaeology and Ancient History research includes the study of temples and sacred places in Labraunda (2nd century BC), domesticated landscapes on the Peloponnesos with a cross-disciplinary focus on the role of human-environmental interactions on landscapes, as well as the sacrifice rituals of different cultures.

The department's Egyptology research includes both text interpretation and manuscript edition and Egyptian archaeology.
