This book is the latest contribution to the discourse concerning settlement archaeology on Gotland. In many aspects, it presents a new view of farms, villages and the general development of settlements on the island of Gotland. The island has several unique features, which is important to remember, but Gotland also has much in common with other regions around the Baltic Sea. This thesis puts some of the unique features of Gotland in a Scandinavian context.
